OEM Manufacturing
Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) build equipment, systems, tools, and devices sold to end-users in countless markets. From heavy manufacturing equipment to handheld medical devices, OEMs choose components for their systems that they trust to share their brand name. Buyers in the OEM industry rely upon Whitman Controls to deliver high-quality, reliable, and resilient instruments to include in their designs.
CHALLENGES
Few industries encompass as wide a range of technical requirements and buyer perspectives as the OEM space. Very distinct precision, lifespan, repeatability, cost, and durability requirements can be found between OEMs (and often even between a single OEM’s various product lines).

PURPOSE-DRIVEN SIMPLICITY
➤ Routine control applications do not need complex components – instead they need simple, dependable, standardized, purpose-driven functionality in a small form factor that will simply sense what it needs to sense. Especially for ‘set and forget’ equipment, simple components translate to less maintenance, lower operating cost, and fewer service calls.
UNIQUE APPLICATION CUSTOMIZATION
➤ Continuous improvement and technological evolution fuel the product development process, and these improvements often call for custom instrumentation solutions to match. Custom format, size, connection, voltage, unit range, circuitry, materials, and even aesthetics are all fair game when designing emergent systems.
PROCUREMENT RELIABILITY
➤ Especially for contract manufacturing and mission-critical applications, buyers have many more important things to do than to babysit their suppliers. Buying out an entire project involves extensive attention to finding, qualifying, price leveling, tendering, and contracting vendors as it is, and any unreliable supplier who cannot deliver presents significant risk to the project’s success and end-user satisfaction.
